Jules Dupuit Prize 2026 awarded to Prof. Yoshitsugu Hayashi

The World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) is thrilled to announce Prof. Yoshitsugu Hayashi as the recipient of the 2026 Jules Dupuit Prize. First initiated in 1992 by Marc Gaudry and Antti Talvitie, this prestigious award honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding scientific achievements, a distinguished global reputation in transport policy, and selfless dedication to the WCTRS community. Following a unanimous decision by Dupuit Prize Subcommittee members and official confirmation by the Steering Committee, Prof. Hayashi was selected for his pioneering contributions to transport and land use, value capture, sustainable transport, and quality of life. His global leadership is further highlighted by his role as an Executive Committee Member of the Club of Rome Board, extensive engagements with major international bodies such as the World Bank and the ITF, and as President of WCTRS from 2013 (WCTR Rio do  Janeiro) to 2019 (WCTR Mumbai).

Prof. Hayashi’s journey with WCTRS is truly extraordinary, having first attended the inaugural World Conference in Rotterdam in 1977 as a student and since then taken on a multitude of vital scientific and managerial duties across the Society. We extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt congratulations to Yoshi for his incredible lifelong commitment to transforming transport research and serving our global community.
